Welcome to October 2023! Fall is almost here! Let’s get this Fall 2023 started off right. We have found some indoor and outdoor activities suitable for everyone. DAWN is here to support you in taking time for you each month and enjoying all that our area has to offer.
Fall events, activities and fun has returned to Michigan! This October features events like Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village, Zoo Boo at the Detroit Zoo, an Oktoberfest Run, an Ann Arbor Marathon and Artober Art Fest in Ann Arbor – not to mention fun stuff for the kids. Don’t forget to check out all the local job fairs to participate in! These fun, exciting October 2023 events and activities for you or the kids will help keep you occupied, but we’ve also provided some helpful articles on parenting, divorce and finances. Oktoberfest Run in Downtown Royal Oak
Enjoy themed running events, a custom event medal, race swag, post-race snack table with Bavaria foods and snacks with your morning brew in a fun environment.
Zoo Boo At the Detroit Zoo
The Detroit Zoo will be open until dark for this annual “merry-not-scary” Halloween celebration, which features strolling entertainment, Halloween face painting, photo opportunities, trick-or-treating stations and more. This year, they added themed weekends.
Hallowe’en at Greenfield Village
Walk the illuminated jack-o’-lantern paths through Wonderland, Sleepy Hollow and other spooky worlds. There is a Halloween train adventure on the Hallowe’en Express, fall treats and costumed characters throughout the village. New this year, free carriage rides throughout the village.

Choose to run or walk a marathon, marathon relay, half marathon, 10K, 5K, Kids’ “Marathon” and Kids’ “Half Marathon.” Virtual options are available.
A2 Artoberfest in Downtown Ann Arbor
Explore the work of over 100 jury-selected fine artists at this event. There will also be live entertainment, food, drinks, shopping and more.
